L.A. City Measure EEducation Parcel Tax

Required a 2/3 vote and therefore lost.

These results agreed with the Democratic Party's recommendations except for Propositions 14 and 15.
Despite publishing a lengthy and persuasive Op-Ed piece against proposition 14 on June 7, the Times endorsed it. The Democrats supported Proposition 15, which lost.

The local Democratic party also endorsed Los Angeles Measure E, the $100 a year parcel tax for the L.A. Unified School District for four years. The L.A. Times opposed it as not having enough spending or auditing controls. Surely, the money would be subject to existing controls. We shouldn't need new controls for each new tranche of revenue. A majority of the voters supported it, but not the 2/3 required for passage.
